Private Ski Transfers in Japan

Our ski transfer service will get you straight to the slopes with zero stress

Japan is one of the world's most popular destinations for skiing and snowboarding thanks to its abundance of perfect deep powder snow, affectionately known by its most ardent enthusiasts as 'Japow'.

Why does Japan have such excellent snow? It's largely thanks to cold Siberian winds that pick up a huge amount of moisture as they pass over the warm Sea of Japan. As this moisture starts to climb into Japan's mountainous regions, it turns into some of the world's lightest powder, and average temperatures between -5 and -10 degrees are just right to preserve it. Throughout January and February in particular, many of Japan's resorts see waist deep powder almost every day.

Doing it the hard way

Some of Japan's most popular ski areas include Hakuba Valley, with its ten highly varied resorts; Niigata, dubbed "Snow Country" for its heavy snowfall, which is home to famous resorts like Naeba, Myoko Suginohara and Lotte Arai; and Tohoku, which, thanks to its more remote location is often crowd-free, with all but untouched snow and a truly authentic feel.

But getting to these prime locations from the airport is not always simple. There are no direct trains from to the resorts and in most cases visitors need to catch a combination of trains and shuttle buses to get to where they need to be. For overseas visitors, navigating the Japanese railway system can be extremely confusing – particularly if they're not comfortable reading kanji. After a long flight, hauling your skis and snowboards between trains and trying to track down your shuttle service can be extremely frustrating. It's very easy to end up in the wrong place, or to miss a connection, only to reach your hotel hours later than planned and in no mood for skiing.
